Cape Cod

Day 4

So now im venturing outside of Boston and im going to do it in a car! picked up the car and got a quick self taught lesson in automatic as i pulled out of the garage- i was on the roads- and it felt like i was driving a very big Go-Kart! but the car is very swish and actually good to drive. i headed down to Plymouth to see where it all started- where the Mayflower first struck land in 1620. Quaint little place although it was a whistle stop tour really-as i wanted to head off to Cape Cod- i trundled my way down Route 6 and headed through lots of 'Picture Postcard' towns with wooden slated fronts and porches, Chatham was especially sweet.

Stopping off at the National Seashore to see the sand dunes and lighthouses I then ended up in Province Town- right at the tip of Cape Cod, this was much busier than the other places and had even more shops selling stuff with 'Cape Cod' written on it! I had a pitstop at the Red Lobster for a bowl of the famous Clam Chowda and it was delicious! after that jumped in the car and headed back down to Eastham- where the hostel im staying in for the night is- i arrived (after lots of wrong turns ...stupid American signs!) and it is so cute- im in a little beach hut which has a little sand pathway leading up to it and a very idiylic main room - i think its fantastic, hopefully should be a very quite night as the hostel is surrounded by forest....

Harvard & a Cruise!

Day 3

Got the bus over to Cambridge- and went on a tour of Harvard, led by some very ENTHUSIASTIC students! it was great -learnt loads about the buildings, the teaching and the student life over here. When the guides were out of energy and the tour had finished i wandered along the riverside all the way into Boston and caught a Harbour Cruise around Boston's harbour, a chance to get some snaps of the skyline. Then had just enough time to head abck to the hostel before heading off for the big Red Sox Baseball game - i couldnt believe how like the movies it was! 'get your hotdog, get your hot dog here!' i absolutley loved it! and that was just the crowd! the game was great too and i had a great guy sat next to me telling me what was going on which definatly helped! I was also there for the 500th sellout game so got a baseball! what a memento of a brilliant night....

Freedom Trail

Day 2

So got up pretty early-without too much trouble, (not sure when the tiredness will kick in!) had bagels for breakfast and headed straight out to go along the famous walk in Boston-the freedom Trail. The trail takes you past all the landmarks in Boston. Its a 3 mile tour of the beautiful city, with lots of culture and history (although not that historic compared to half the buildings in England - but of course the Americans are very proud of it! especially the 'SS Constitution' the oldest commisioned vessel in the world!)

In the evening i went to the harbour and went to the restaurant with no name- highly reccommeded! it was fantastic, i had seafood medley washed down with Boston's own beer 'Harpoon' - it was wonderful to be by the water at dusk, such a fantastic place-im really loving it....

Boston Baby

Day 1

sunny

Well, i arrived- all in one piece and without much delay! i checked into the hostel which seems pretty great and then wandered along the 'Charles River', although i seemed to be the only person walking-everyone else was either running or biking! but it was beautiful with the boats sailing by and the skyline around. I wandered though Back Bay with all the shops and beautiful buildings and then headed back as Jet lag caught up with me-although i thought i did quite well, i managed to stay up till 10.30 - which is 3.30 at home! Lets just say i slept pretty well...
